Reflection

We ended our second quarter, and just like the end of a really hard bike ride, or hike, I’m exhausted, and sore all-over. But…there is a big smile on my face.
Our fourth year is already getting closer to graduation. There are only two remaining quarters for us to enjoy being a high school student. Sooner or later we will leave our alma mater, Ilocos Sur National High School to begin our new chapter of our lives. When he heard the opera “aida”, it is called a grand opera because it is sung, some of my classmates don’t want to listen to that opera especially Tom Ishrael Filart because it reminds us about our incoming graduation. We don’t want to leave high school but there’s nothing that we can do because it is a part of our journey.
Second quarter is a busy period for us but even though we are busy, we still have our time to make new memories that will never forget for the rest of our lives.

Promoting Digital Literacy through English Proficiency

Our ability and knowledge in English help us to understand and analyze information or topics related to digital literacy.
Language proficiency or linguistic proficiency is the ability of an individual to speak or perform in an acquired language. As theories vary among pedagogues as to what constitutes proficiency, there is little consistency as to how different organizations classify it. Additionally, fluency and language competence are generally recognized as being related, but separate controversial subjects. In predominant frameworks in the United States, proficient speakers demonstrate both accuracy and fluency, and use a variety of discourse strategies. Thus, native speakers of a language can be fluent without being considered proficient. Digital Literacy is the ability to locate, organize, understand, evaluate, and analyze information using digital technology. It involves a working knowledge of current high-technology, and an understanding of how it can be used. Digitally literate people can communicate and work more efficiently, especially with those who possess the same knowledge and skills.
Digital Literacy is not only about being computer- literate but it is about the other kind of technologies.

Chemergy: Chemistry and Science Clubbing In Synergy

          "Working together works".
A quotation by Dr. Rob Gilbert which tells us that if there is cooperation between two people , organizations or groups, something good or better or even the best may happen.
Great discoveries and improvements invariably involve the cooperation of many minds therefore if there is synergy between two or more organizations or groups, they are more successful when they work together than they work separately.
September is the National Science Club Month pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 264 and this year's theme is "Chemergy: Chemistry and Science Clubbing In Synergy". It aims to provide venue for us students to learn science, technology and environment not only within the four corners of our classrooms through science clubbing and be able to contribute innovations, breakthroughs or discoveries in the world of Science.
Let us then support the synergism of Chemistry and Science Clubbing to feed our minds and develop our attitude, knowledge and skills that would make a difference.

Forever and Always

So many days I think of you,
It gives me joy, it makes me glow,
And in the night I dream of you,
It gives me pain, I long for you.

So many words I want to say,
To let you know I really care,
So many dreams that I have made,
You’re a part of it, you’re all I need.

So many faults I did in the past,
Yet you understood, willing to adjust,
It makes me feel I have your trust,
That makes it real, our love will last.

Sometimes I ask, why I have to leave though,
When leaving makes my heart blue,
Why do I have to suffer with loneliness,
When in your arms, lay my happiness.

In the night before I sleep,
In my reverie your image flashes,
And in the morning when I wake up,
Your face lights up, your touch I miss.

But life they say is a continuous struggle,
You must not give up even if you fail,
Just bear in mind that one day I’ll stay,
In your arms again, forever and always.

Starting of Success from Our Teachers

What else can we think of when our teachers are mentioned? Their hardships, understanding, care and pieces of advice for us, their students. And of course, lectures, new lessons, assignments, quizzes and projects! Those memories when they came about to tell jokes and stories with us students. Their sermons to us during times when we were lazy or disobedient to pass what are we going to do. It's their continuous patience and hard works for us that make them our hero.
Heroes doesn't always wear in superhero suit. A hero can wear regular clothes and they can be regular people. My teacher is a hero because she teaches me a lot. My teacher name is Mrs. Ester Alegre. She is very nice and fun to have as a teacher. The most important part of being a hero is that they change the world. Mrs. Alegre changes the world by teaching us how to solve, interpret and understand things that she teaches us. With her we get additional knowledge everyday. We may even grow up to be a scientist or a teacher or a person who fights for justice. We may also grow up to be a hero. A hero is someone who helps people. Mrs. Alegre helps us to use our minds to think. She helps when someone needs her. Mrs. Alegre is really nice because she gives us hints instead of the answer so we get to think more. Being a hero is not easy. You have to work hard. You have to spend your time saving the world. When the class doesn't listen, she gets frustrated. After she gets frustrated she calms down. My teacher is a hero because she teaches us so we can smart. When we are smart we get an education. When we get an education we use our mind to not be lazy. Also when you are smart, you can also be a hero. Mrs. Alegre is not wonder woman, cat woman and darna. This hero is a normal person. She does not fight crime. She fight against the dumb, stupid and bored. She saves her students from being lazy. Mrs. Alegre does not have the superhero suit and she does not have a super power. She uses her mind to help people. Superheroes are hard to find. I found my hero at Ilocos Sur National High School. You can find Mrs. Alegre teaching 3rd year and 4th year class. She is the best teacher I ever had.
What could be in a school without our teachers? There would be no students as well that in fact, students will not be able to go to school and learn what they are supposed to learn. Having our teachers we were able to learn and understand things easier and quicker. Because of their teachings, a lot of people have reached and accomplished their goals in life.

My Hero: My Single Mom

Do you know that heroes don’t always dress in superhero suit? A hero can wear regular clothes and they can be regular people. We may also grow up to be a hero. A hero is someone who helps people.
Why do I consider my mother my hero? Instead of other people who is there always for me. As far as I can remember my mother and my father are always there whenever I need help since I was born. My father died when I was only eight years old and from that time up to this day I have always been very proud of my mom. I used to be closer to my father before because my mom is usually out for work so I was left to be taken care of by my father. But when he died my mom have to be there always for me as I grew up and assisting me in all the things I do and in everything I need. Because I was their only child so I was very thankful for having a mom just like her who is always ready to accept and forgive all my faults and misgivings. As far as I remember whenever I need something and ask her she always give in to my requests. But sometimes there are instances that she doesn’t give in to my requests but she explains the reason behind why she says “NO” and I agree and understand her after an explanation. Now, I’m now in my fourth year of high school and next year I will soon go to college. Four years from now she will be reaping the fruits of success. She tells me every now and then that all she wants is for me to earn degree and perhaps may have a permanent work afterwards. That’s why I consider my mom as my hero and hopefully when she gets older I will be there for her.
My mom is not like wonder woman, cat woman or even darna. This hero  does not fight crime. She is a normal person.

Breastfeeding: Ensuring infant's health

With the overwhelming benefits of breastfeeding, the choice of infant feeding method is a significant health decision with long life consequences for both babies and mothers.
For the first months of life of a baby it is very important for a mother to give the best care and nutrition of the child in order to grow up and develop. The best nutrition that we can give our bay is through breastfeeding. For the first six months to ensure the best possible development of the baby is for the mother to breastfeed the baby. A mother should give her her breast milk exclusively for her baby. Breast milk contains antibodies which will help the baby fight against all kinds of diseases and also to improve the immune system of the baby. Through breastfeeding also, this will also develop a closer bonding or relationship between the mother and the baby. Many studies and research has been made and they found out that babies who are breastfeed are more intelligent, they seldom develop any kind of diseases and also they are more energetic and behave than those children/babies who are not breastfeed.
Let us spread the statement. "Isulong ang Breastfeeding- Tama, Sapat, at Eksklusibo" to ensure the best possible development of every baby in the world.

Progress of the Nation starts On You

The State Of the Nation Address or SONA is an event where the leader of the Republic of the Philippines express and tell all his accomplishments almost a year and what will he do for the other years to come for the development of our country. It is an opportunity wherein the opposition have their rally against the government.
The speech of our President in the previous year contains the preparations for the development of our country, they will focus on the things the past administration did for the other crisis in our country wherein they should had been solved. Being a Filipino, we are hoping that he will enlighten all the difficulties of our country that we are facing now. There is nothing in his first SONA that showed any step up solutions that his government is proposing to address the country's prevalent problems. Instead of giving solutions on the mess left by the previous administration he is always keep on blaming and putting down the past administration because of what they have done. It is no longer new and shocking to know the range and level of the PGMA's misdeeds. He is keep on moving his campaign slogan, "kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap", he did not miss this chance to reveal new anomalies of the previous administration that his government has disclose. With corruption deeply rooted in Filipino culture today, it will take maybe 10-20 years to minimize it.
P-Noy should think for the betterment of his administration and for the betterment of our country.  But not blaming the past administration. He should fulfill his promises to our country.

What are you doing?

Greetings in the name of the Lord. Hope you are in the best state of health as you received this letter of mine.
One year had passed since you had been declared as our President, but as to this day I always read in the papers that many media men and women are always reminding you about what you have promised. In your SONA (State Of the nation Address) you told us about "tuwid na daan" but it seems that you had forgotten this already. When you read the papers and view the television, surveys had been made and the results are not satisfactory. The Filipino people are not satisfied with the way that you are leading the country. They also said that you have not address the problem on poverty and many have observed also that since you acted as our President many are becoming "poorer and poorer". Mr. President, what are you doing? Why can't you not do something about this? Now, you had Mar Roxas, as one of your cabinet members, because you owe him a lot. If not for him you have not been our President. The corruptions have persisted, what have you done to solve these? You still had years to prove to us that you can do something. You said we are your boss then proved something that we really are your boss.
Hope this merit your attention. More power and God Bless.
                                                                                                                  Respectfully Yours,
                                                                                                                   LARION YMA
